What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of absorption and relaxed focus. We experience moments of this state every day, during activities such as getting lost in a book, driving, or watching a movie. It is simply an altered state of awareness.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a method, which engages the unconscious mind, while in a state of deep relaxation, to create positive and lasting change.
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works in harmony with the unconscious mind to remove unwanted states such as anxiety and install new, desirable states such as improved self-esteem.
Through the power of hypnotic suggestions the hypnotherapist guides you towards new ways of thinking about your concerns, connecting you with your inner resources such as resilience and concentration. The unconscious mind is inherently powerfully resourceful – all that is needed is a shift in perception.
During hypnosis you are in control and make the decision to create changes at a deep, unconscious level. Even though the hypnotherapist is making suggestions, it is up to you, and it’s your choice to make the change you need today. All you have to do is want the change, and work with us to shift obstacles to your success, prosperity, happiness. Hypnosis is a very powerful instrument – once you are ready to take that first step and embrace lasting change.
Is hypnosis safe? Will I lose control?
Your unconscious mind is watchful for your personal wellbeing. You are always in control and can even stop the process at any time. Contrary to popular belief you cannot be forced to think or do anything that is in conflict with your own will.
What if I am unable to go deeply into hypnosis?
A deep experience of hypnosis is not necessary for it to be effective. Even a light state of trance can be very useful. Over time, with each session, you will become more familiar with this deeply relaxed state of being, and you will be able to go deeper in this very enjoyable and pleasant experience.
Will I remember what happened?
It is likely that you remember most of what has been said, but at times your mind may wander and drift and you may experience small gaps. As all sessions are recorded and given to you, you are always able to review and listen again – in fact we recommend listening for powerful reinforcement of your deeply relaxing experience.
Can I be hypnotized?
We all experience these states of greater focus and absorption several times throughout the day naturally. If you can get lost in a book or completely drawn into a movie you can be hypnotized.
How many sessions will I need?
Hypnotherapy by nature is brief therapy. Depending on the concern, anywhere from 3 to 6 sessions is a good guideline for resolving the underlying issues. Problems of a more complex nature or additional issues that crop up during treatment may require more, but it is always up to you at what point you are happy with the outcome.

What if I am on medication?
Hypnotherapy is safe and works well alongside other therapies and medical treatments. Changes to your medication should always be made in consultation with and under the supervision of your doctor.
Am I able to claim for my sessions?
Our therapists have health care provider number for claiming from private health insurance. Please check with your provider for rebates. At this point in time our services are not covered by medicare.
